swingers

This device saved me from insanity:

It's a Boppy Rock in Comfort Travel swing and I wish we had gotten it sooner. Up until we got this thing (earlier this week) I could not even use the toilet freely since his majesty wants to be held all the time. Imagine that you can't even pee without the baby screaming himself into a lather. Ugh.

Now I can take a shower and empty my bladder in peace. Bonus - this swing is really small and folds up flat when not in use. It also isn't hideously gaudy like all the others that I saw in the store. Have baby = must have swing.

6 weeks & 6 days

Tee brought Fee to the doc yesterday. The FANTASTIC news is that he's now up to 7 pounds 8 ounces! He gained 22 ounces in the 14 days since his previous appointment, and since the doc wants him to be putting on +/- an ounce a day, he's doing really really well there.

Also, it was time for some more vaccinations. yay! Outside of the Daffy Duck band-aids, which were awesome, 'nix didn't really dig that whole "getting injected with stuff" thing. Buy hey, now he won't get polio, so it's worth it. Every time we moved him yesterday - moved him like, an inch - he screamed and cried. and screamed and cried. then screamed and cried some more. Whew. Poor little guy.

We gave him a little bit of infant Tylenol to take the edge off (I wanted to give him vodka but Theresa was insistent – gosh!). that was definitely the funniest part of yesterday. I picked up the infant Tylenol on the way home from work. The flavor choices were grape and cherry. Grape, obviously, is reserved for cough medicine, so I picked up the cherry flavor.

Yesterday was the first time that Fee has had anything other than boob juice or formula. Using a little dropper Tee put some in his mouth, like a quarter of a teaspoon or something, and he spent a couple minutes rolling it around in his mouth, looking around, trying to figure it out. The look on his face! The wonderment! What IS this? So, so, so, so cute. Priceless. Then I put him back on my shoulder and of course, the screaming and the crying.

Eventually, of course, he settled down and we ended up having a mostly uneventful overnight. A little more screaming than normal, sure, but not as bad those first few hours home from the doc’s.

Now, yay, I’m back at work while Tee and Fee are asleep at home. Wish I was there.

nursery rave!

I just got a note in my flickr inbox. Apparently an editor at Apartment Therapy wants to do a featured tour of Fenix's nursery for their nursery site Ohdeedoh. I am thrilled and flattered. The rooms that are featured on this site all embody the aesthetic that I love... simple, clean, modern.

Here are some of the previous tours that they've had on the site:

Here's our nursery in case you missed my earlier post on it.

I'll post again when they post the tour to their site (should be sometime in February).

baby baths

Bathing a baby is a wonderful thing. Nothing will soothe a fussy baby like a tub or sink filled with warm water. It's one of my favorite things to do with Fenix. I turn up the heat in the bathroom, close the door and let him sit in his tiny tub and soak. He looks so content. It makes me so happy.

feefee has a new whip

We just got a new stroller for Feefee. Sadly the original stroller that we wanted (which was also purchased as a gift for us - thanks test team!) will not work for us after all. It came as a travel system set and the car seat that came with it was not safe for a peanut of Feefee's size so we had to return it. Alas I found a suitable replacement in the Urban Advantage stroller. It comes in a fetching brown and orange color and is quite sporty. Check it out:

rave!

A new Goodwill store just opened up near my house! I am elated. Overjoyed. Ecstatic!
I went there today and their women's selection is quite awesome. Lots of cute designer items. They had French Connection... Free People... BCBG...

I was also able to find 4 cashmere sweaters in cute colors for some as yet undetermined project (likely handbags of some sort).

Their housewares section was a bit on the slim pickings side but I'm guessing that it will improve as they get more and more donations to that location.

Finally something good comes to the north end!
