shopaholics of the world, unite and take over

We were out doing a bit of retail therapy today. After visiting my friend in her cute home I got inspired to work a little bit more at making our home look inviting and warm.

After Fenix came we really got lazy and stopped putting any effort into making things look nicer around the house. It's terrible and it really shows.

So today we went out and did a bit of shopping. The primary goal of the trip was to purchase a gift for Fenix's first birthday. We got something very awesome for him but I'll post a picture of it when I write about his birthday party (next weekend!).

I also stopped at Anthropologie to see what goodies were on sale and I was definitely pleased with what I found.

Dishes marked down from $10 each to $1.95:

I also picked up some really beautiful tea towels to replace our generic, dingy ones and a ceramic citrus reamer because we broke our old one - all deeply discounted.

After Anthro we moved on to World Market where we picked up a loveseat (also a sleeper sofa!) for just $399. It matches the sofa that we already have and it will fill the void left by the large and uncomfortable leather chair that we recently sold on Craigslist.

I still have a bit of shopping to do - a few things to put in Fee's and J's stocking, presents for J and our friends and a few more items like new throw pillows and a less intrusive coffee table but that'll all have to wait til the next paycheck! Feel free to share your sale finds in the comments section. Happy shopping!

another pair of spectacles

I found a pair of vintage cat eye glasses for a mere 22 bux a few weeks ago. I am pretty jazzed about them. Vintage frames almost never fit my face. They are always too narrow or the arms (is that what you call them?) are always too short to reach behind my ears. But finally(!) I found a pair that fit and they look really cute (or at least I think so).

new boots. i gots them

My new boots came in the mail today and they are quite fetching. I can't wait to clomp around in them. If you look at my earlier post you will see that the boots are in fact one of the pairs that i was coveting. The best part is that I got them on Ebay (new with tags!) so they only cost me ~$30 plus shipping. This is a big deal to me because a) you can't even buy them on the Sanita/Dansko website anymore and b) when you could, they cost around $180.

new boots. i needs them.

For some reason I'm obsessed with getting a pair of (or a few pairs of) new boots. Yeah, I know I'm kinda late since it's like nearly spring or whatevs but just the same, I want them. I'm a big 'boots in warm weather' sort of person.
I envision a really cute jersey knit dress (built by wendy - i already bought 4 yards of bamboo jersey fabric!), a wide belt that sits low on the hips and some really cute boots. But not just any boots. In staying true to my vision they need to be a very specific kind of pull on boot (no no no zip ups - the calf part musn't be fitted), like these:

or these:

or most definitely these (gotta love the fluevogs):

jason, are you reading this? let me know if you need to know where to buy these :-)

rave!

A new Goodwill store just opened up near my house! I am elated. Overjoyed. Ecstatic!
I went there today and their women's selection is quite awesome. Lots of cute designer items. They had French Connection... Free People... BCBG...

I was also able to find 4 cashmere sweaters in cute colors for some as yet undetermined project (likely handbags of some sort).

Their housewares section was a bit on the slim pickings side but I'm guessing that it will improve as they get more and more donations to that location.

Finally something good comes to the north end!
