nursery rave!

I just got a note in my flickr inbox. Apparently an editor at Apartment Therapy wants to do a featured tour of Fenix's nursery for their nursery site Ohdeedoh. I am thrilled and flattered. The rooms that are featured on this site all embody the aesthetic that I love... simple, clean, modern.

Here are some of the previous tours that they've had on the site:

Here's our nursery in case you missed my earlier post on it.

I'll post again when they post the tour to their site (should be sometime in February).

nursery = 95% done

Finally we are almost done with the nursery. The joke is that he doesn't even sleep in there. Oh well. And even though he is a month old, technically we are still on schedule since he was due on Jan 17th.... best laid plans....

Things that we need to complete it:
I want to make a crib quilt using some cool fabric that I got from repro depot
We need a chair of some kind. Or better yet a white storage bench that has some nifty cushions on top.
More artwork/pictures/tchotkes
A nicer light fixture... the one that is in the ceiling is OK but it kinda looks like a giant boob.
A unique crib mobile (I hate all the frou frou ones that I have seen in the stores thus far)

p.s.... J and I made the green curtains. The fabric came from Joann. The sheers are from Ikea but we shortened them quite a bit to match the length of the green curtains.

Here are some pics of the nursery (full set):

we shipped it! and other sh*t that is going on

So I finally finished up at work somewhere around 1 a.m. We've got a conference call at 11 a.m. today to discuss last minute hotfixes but the good news is that the late nights are pretty much over.

Anyway we agreed to get this crib from ikea for the nursery:

Jason is going down there in a few minutes to get it, a mattress and some basic bedding. I am priming and painting the changing table in bright white (as opposed to the distressed black that we originally agreed on).

Here's our latest inspiration nursery:

chime balls?

I got these really cool soft fabric covered chime balls for Fenix's room.
I thought they were a really cute accent/decoration that can double as toys. They make very light chime-y sounds when you shake them.

i love the thrift store

Check out the changing table that J found at the thrift store for $20.

On Saturday I spent about 2 hours sanding off the top layer of finish with our little power sander.
I still have some detail sanding to do... around the spindles and some of the other areas that I couldn't reach with the power sander. Once I'm done with sanding I plan to paint it in a semi-gloss black and do some nice distressed details on the edges.

Then all we'll need is a changing pad to go on top and several nice baskets to hold things on the shelves underneath.

I'll post another pic when it's done.
